Chennai, Jan 7 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt is expected to be the Chief Guest for the 7th Armed Forces Veterans Day to be held at Air Force Station, Tambaram, here on January 14. The Tri-service annual event is celebrated to recognise the contribution of veterans who served the nation. On this very day, on January 14, 1953, the First Indian Commander in Chief (C-in-C) Indian Army-Field Marshal K.M.Cariappa, the one who led Indian Forces to Victory in the 1947 war, had formally retired from Services. The Day is celebrated as Armed Forces Veterans Day and dedicated to our esteemed Veterans. The First Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated in 2016 wherein, it was decided to commemorate this very day every year, by hosting such interactive events in the honour of our Armed Forces Veterans and their families. The 7th Armed Forces Veterans Day will be celebrated on January 14 at Air Force Station, Tambaram. Events are being organized across the country by Three Service Headquarters at various cities apart from one main event presided over by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Veterans may reach to the respective Sainik Boards for participation, a defence release said here today.
